I see on jegs website. 1970 and later c4 there are like 3 diferent torque converters. int he 2200 rom range (breakaway series). how do i know which one i need?

some have different bolt circles, or 1.375 crank case pilot while some dont.

the only thing in common is 26 spline.

TCI Breakaway Torque Converters - JEGS

If i buy local what of these different options will i need to get the correct TC for my car?

There were three different flexplate sizes after 1970. 157 tooth, 164 tooth and the Mustang II's 147 tooth. They will all use the same size crank pilot for a 302 & the 351's

To see which of the two (157 vs 164) you have, look under the car and see where the transmission dipstick goes into the transmission. If it goes into the transmission oil pan, you've got a 164 tooth bellhousing and flexplate. If it goes into the case behind the bellhousing, it's a 157 tooth.
