OK, we all know (OK, most of us) the what RWHP means and we know that torque is the seat-of-the-pants (SOTP) thrill you get on acceleration. Please don't reply to fix my words or grammar; that is not not what this thread is all about. Here goes:

Torque is seen expressed as xxx Ft. Lbs.. Sometimes it is expressed as Lb. Ft.. Whatever, I don't know which is correct, but what the hell does Ft. Lbs. mean??? To me these are two completely different kinds of measurement (length vs. weight or vice versa) that I don't usually mix, so someone please explain. Thanks.

Anyway........

An engine puts out torque, nothing more. Torque is a twisting force. Horsepower is just an equation for how much torque is applied over a given time. Think of torque this way: our cars have 302lb-ft of torque from the factory. That's equal to hanging a 302lb weight off the end of a 1-foot long wrench.

Get a 3-foot long wrench and hang from it.
