I've just fitted a set of Tokico D-Spec shocks and stryuts with Roush springs and Metco billet rear control arms. It may be paranoid but I now hear a slight squeaking that seems to come from the rear passenger side. It's nothing massive and the stereo even on low volume makes in inaudible but you know how you tend to listen for it....
I got back under the car as the car had settled for a week or so and checked it all out and made sure all the bolts were tight and I slackened off the control arms and sat the car back down and tightened them up again to 80lbs ft either end (this setting is what they recommend for Z28s). I noticed one of the rear springs had caused the rubber cushion in the top of the rear spring tower to curl slightly so I took the pressure off, rotated the spring so it was central and let it down again to get rid of the curl.
I regreased the arms with synthetic lube and initially the car was creak and squeal free but it's slowly coming back. I've sprayed silicon spray on everything rubber that I can see so can anyone tell me the official torque settings on the lower control arms?
Better still, can anyone tell me if their Mustang creaks/squeaks slightly anyway as standard (I don't recall mine doing so but wasn't listening for it) or after lowering?
The sound is best described as like a sort of rubber squeak. Now I'm wondering if I should try the stock wheels. LOL.
