im pretty sure my friend just got an 08 150 with a 6, but i could be wrong. either way i agree with you, the straight 6 f150's ruled

Yes you could get the 4.2 up to 2008 in the F150, but the new 09 offers the 2v 4.6 as its base engine, the 3v 4.6 optional and the 3v 5.4 is the top choice

I still think that Ford's 300ci 4.9 straight six is among the best engines they ever made. My dad had one in a 2wd 81 F150 with a 4-speed...that truck was a TON of fun and it did far more work than it probably should have. The modern generation of V6's can't hold a candle to the I-6 of years past.

You need to also take into account the "bull low" first gear in the transmission those old inline-6 trucks came with. You could have put nearly anything behind that ratio and pulled stumps. :D

we'll see what happens...i think my friend might still want to tow it just for the hell of it..i guess he would have fun with it lol so i guess i'll figure it out when the time comes.. i think we're goin on April 1st to Cecil Dragway.. any Maryland-ers should head on down.. it will be the first time i run and with the little mods i have i'm gonna shoot for a 14.6 or so with some BFGoodrich DR's.. i may be dreaming but we'll see

no just stock gears...my cousin had a book and he looked up the VIN and said it was a 3.08 rear but i was just under there the other day and the tag said 2L73 which is 2.73 Locker... so i guess its 2.73. I plan on replacing the clutch on the lockers so i don't get embarressed by the "one tire on fire" when i go.

I kind of like the gears i have for now... because im doing everyday driving but i still think the posi would help... if my gears are 2.73's can i but 3.08's to convert it to? i would consider 3.55's but my friend has them and i don't like it. i want something closer to what i have now
