TPS Sensors Driving me CRAZY!!!!!!

I have changed out two TPS sensors and I still get a code 63 - low TPS voltage from the KOEO test. Yes - I reset the computer by pulling the neg. batery cable for 5 min.

I set the TPS sensor to .96 with the KOEO and lock it down. I rotate the throttle body and the TPS voltage increases from the .96 (closed) to 4.49 (full open). Whats the deal? Am I missing something here. FYI I have a BBK 65mm throttle body. Any ideas?????

it is supposed to go up that high when WOT.
if it still pops that code even with your TPS set, then it could be a wiring delimma.

WOT = full open, looks like I will be hunting down some wires for a short.

the ref juice is 5 volts +/- 10%, IIRC. the puter sends ground to the sensor.

i would think you are close enough that it should be alright.

5min.s to clear the battery might not be enough. I've always used at least 20 min's.
Also, if your using a code scanner, all you have to do is turn the scanner to the hold or off position while it is flashing the codes, and the codes will be cleared out of the EEC.
Is your car running bad becuase of this code? If it isn't, then I'd say forget about it, but if it is running horrible, then you will have to look for the short.

Not running BAD but I am getting a CE light under hard acceleration at times. Just a PIA. I will clear the codes witht he scanner as you have suggested. Thanks for the info. I don't want to be tracing down a short for hours.

slowly open up the tps with the volt meter on, seeif it dips below you .96 v. I had a simalar prob, the tps had a flat spot in it, sometimes during acceleration the voltage would drop. give it a try it might just be the tps

good point - i was gonna suggest the same but you beat me. a VOM (analog voltmeter) makes seeing flat spots easier.

also, on the battery disconnection (to have to the puter relearn settings), disconnect the battery and turn on the headlights. the draw will clear all residual juice out of the PCM.

If that isn't it maybe your 10 pin connectors have bad connections. There was a campaign for this that added short extender cables with special pins to fix intermittent connections with the std. parts.
