tps voltage? how to?

I am going thru the "surging idle checklist" and I am replacing my IAC, cleaning my TB and adjusting/clenaing my tps (or I may replace it). But I am not totally clear on how to set/check the voltage. ANyone feel like giving a indepth explanantion on how to do this? Or post a link to the explanation?
