does anyone know if the computer resets the tps or do i have to play with it to get the correct voltage? what should the voltage be at idle.?also which wires do i probe?i checked the stock setting at idle in on position engine not running and my reading is .2. i probed the middle wire on the tps.was it set incorrectly inthe first place?the car ran good! i did this before i put a new plenum and tb on this weekend.

:stupid: and to adjust the voltage you will need to wiggle it a little to the left or right. By wiggle, I mean loosen it up and it moves only a tiny tiny bit, but that is what you have to adjust with, then tighten. I was having some problems with mine after plenum install and i took a drill bit and made the holes a little bigger for more adjustment room. It worked for me. But dont F it up too bad casue a new one is like $50.

Computer reset does not affect the TPS.
Correct voltage is not really necessary...I mean, as long as it's idling properly (around 800), leave it alone. Now if the idle does not return as quickly as it did before the new plenum and TB, that is a known issue and it will get better with time...about 5 days from my experience=90% better.
Follow the good advice you got from the above two posts! If you do need to adjust the idle, loosen the two screws just enough so you can "wiggle it a little to the left or right" as 03GT said. Then start the car and wiggle away...that is, essentially, your idle adjustment. Set it by ear at first, then ck your tach. Do this only if needed though. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it! DON'T mess with the screw(s) on the TB itself unless you want a real headache.

Absolutely correct.

DO NOT mess with it UNLESS it is broken.

the computer uses the TPS to determine many things, depending on what year of car we are talking about. On the '95 and up stangs, it used the TPS to control transmission line pressure, shift scheduleing, OD enguagement, fuel control, idle control, timing, ect. Very important sensor.

You should not have to drill the sensor to achieve proper adjustment, unless instructed to do so with aftermarket parts. Otherwise, something isn't set up correctly.

the only thing that stumps me is the voltage.before i did anything i took a reading from the middle wire and it read 2.0 with ign switch on motor not running and when i wiggled it it only got to 1.75.i did the same thing at wot, it read 3.75.the car ran fine all this time but does it mean that all the while the throttle wasn't completely opened or closed?it idled at about 750-800.do i need a new tps maybe ! if it idles ok when i get the new parts on should i disregard the voltage readings if it idles ok?

Yep, disregard if it's OK.
I spoke to Accufab when I did my plenum and TB upgrade. They said they don't use a voltmeter, they simply adjust by ear...of course, they are quite experienced, but honestly, it's not hard...there isn't much adjustment to it. I didn't have to adjust mine at all - I just bolted it all together and that was it. For my wife's 01, I had to mess with a lil bit...but again, I did it by ear, then ck'd the tach. (Also, you might wish to cycle the A/C on and off to be sure it 'recovers' the idle properly and doesn't die).
Don't worry much about this whole issue - it's really no big deal in the end. When are you installing the new plenum and TB?

i'll be putting it on saturday sept 17 if ups gets it to me today(thursday),it was supposed to be delivered yesterday but they changed the delivery date.i have everything off and ready for the new stuff to put on.i was going to go supercharged with a kb but i had to reroof my home, then the kid needed braces so there went my kb.i guess for now i'm limited to doing the cheaper mods and i;m glad i can do this myself.i'm also putting on a c&l cai in front of the meter.my next mod will probably be underdrive pullies and than x-pipe and cats.currently all i have is a triax shifter, and 3:73 gears.i might get it juiced since i can't afford supercharging.i don't race but i would just like to get more out of the car when i get on it.thanks to all you guys for your advice,i appreciate it.

i forgot to mention that my ride is a 02 gt convertible with 5spd & 12,000 miles on the odometer.my warranty just expired in august so thats why i'm starting the mods now.i did the gears last june.

If it's a MAC Tb be prepared to play with the TPS ALOT. According to the accufab directions TPS should be as close to 1.0v as you can get it without going over 1.0v mine is .998v. You will want to adjust and then reset computer then start it. IMO it's the quickest way. The TPS wires you need to check should be the bottom 2. For a good seat in the pants pickup I'd suggest either a programmer (I don't have one so I can't rec. one) or a Timing Adjuster (picked up one used). Nitrous is fun and can be safe but when the bottle goes empty augghhhh. Also I suggest you do alot of research on nitrous. Some areas it's illegal, some places it almost impossible to get bottles filled, and there are alot of cost you don't see looking at the kit prices. Do a few searches on here and on the web. You might find it's cheaper to get a blower. BTW I'm currently a bottle fed baby.

the install was a piece of cake!my plenum didn't come with any new gasket for the egr or iac so i picked them up from the local ford dealer.the rubber band gasket for the plenum was out of stock at the dealer and if i ordered it,i'd have to wait til monday to get it.i put it on with old gasket and there's no leakage so everything is fine.had no trouble with the tps and eventually i adjusted it while engine was running.i did check the voltage and everything is within specs.the only problem is the hanging idle.i hope it doesn't take too long for the computer to read the mods.i had read on another thread to put a 1/2 copper plug w/hole drilled into the middle and place it in the iac hose between the iac and black box.i did it and it pretty muched got rid of the hanging idle.it's a cheap neat trick.i suppose its all emission related because performance did not suffer at all.i'd rather not have the plug in there but it'll stay until the computer adjusts.by the way,i did reset the computer after putting on neg cable on the battery. the gain in performance is very noticeable and i couldn't be more pleased.i would definitely recommemd this mod.my c&l cai,c&l plenum and 75mm accufab throttle body came to a total of 423.00 through rpm outlet.i can't wait til i do my next mod-probably underdrive pulleys.is this an easy mod?how do you losen the belt?i see the tensioner but how do loosen it?any insight would be appreciated, thanks guys!

Yeah! Love to hear the happy ending. :nice: I am surprised some people say that you cannot feel the 8-10HP that the plenum&TB upgrade gives. I say bullsh1t...mine immediately was much better at pulling about 3K...it just pulled like never before. At about 3K the OEM plenum (and or TB) must have been limiting performance, because with the new pieces, it just wants to go, go, go!
Oh, and by the way, you don't need to replace that 'rubber band' gasket between the elbow and the manifold. It's reusable by design.
Underdrive pulleys - let me see what I can dig up on that install...
