Track Day 07/11/2005

What an awesome day. I got lucky and had plenty of open track. Now it's time to spend some dough and get ready for the next one. The brakes are shot.

I think you're right Steve. SAACNW's next HPDE day may be worth doing.

Brian,

Sorry I took off without saying goodby. I had zero fuel left and the track crossing was open. Have fun on Thursday :nice:

It was great to hang out with everyone. I had a great time - in group 2. The last sesion for me was unbeleivable. I read 130 on the front straight and I still had my foot on the gas pedal. :D And I actually passed someone in this group.

I have a lot of pics and videos. I'll have to sort through them and email them out (I dop't have the disc space to host this on the club website). I'm leaving for Bellevue tomorrow. So, I won't have them until Monday or Tuesday.

I think I'm going to like this camera. Someday I'll actually read the manual.....

Turns out my #1 cylinder was misfiring pretty badly. No low end. Until the next run...

Slap a Band-Aid on that puppy and lets go again.... So, did you get the problem fixed already? What caused it?

No worries. I made it out before they closed the gate. When I got home, I was exhausted. The last session took a lot out of me. I'll defintely go again. And I'll bring fuel again. . . :rlaugh:

One nice thing about SAACNW is that you can easily tell how many people are signed up. With the other clubs you'd have to call periodically and ask.

Good point.... That is nice. It's also nice to know many of them cleared out early. I don't know if you can always count on this, though.

When you're ready, e-mail them to me, I have unlimited disk space to host them. I will PM you my e-mail address.

I am willing to bet that there are always a percentage that leave early, it seems like everyone there with a lot of experience predicted it would happen. If I didn't have such a screamer of a headache, I would happily have stayed for the two extra sessions. And that is what I have to remember next time -- a bottle of Excedrin :D.

On SAACNW's site, I found some more pictures, taken by a commercial photographer there. These pictures are copyrighted, and I am only posting them here temporarily so that everyone can see what's available. In total there are over 200 pictures available, and you can order real prints of them in 5x7, wallet size, 8x10, 11x14, and 16x20. Prices range from $6 to $35.

Hey--glad to hear/read that, overall, you guys had a good time at our HPDE day on 7/11. THANK YOU to all of you that turned out & helped make it a success. A few points---

1) Photos--there were two photographers there; the second (Heath) will be providing us (SAAC NW) with a disc of his photos to post/link to on our website & you will be able to order from that selection, as well as what's already available.

2) My personal apologies for the slow start to the day; we had a couple glitches that absorbed more time than we allowed for (and NEITHER will get us again). I hope you all were satisfied that we made up for 'em in the afternoon.

3) The *impact* (I wouldn't qualify it as a "wreck") late in the day--a driver lost control enough, at the chicane/festival curves, to result in a rear quarter "contact with the concrete"...but the car returned to the pit area under its own power.

Regarding our next HPDE event, Sept 14 (a Wed)--I'll post a separate note on it, and we'll be adding details as fast as we can confirm 'em on our website, too. Main thing is, those who want to can really make a full day of it--our HPDE sessions transition into the "traditional" Wed night Beaches car show--with food & refreshments, and live music as far as I know--AND the Wed night drags. How's that sound for a day of fun?

Dave,

I personally want to thank you and your crew for a great day. In spite of the slow start, this turned out to be the best HPDE event that I have attended at PIR.

I don't know if I can make it on Sept 14th, or not. But, I'll definitely bring my Mach 1 to another SAAC event.
