Right now im currently overhauling my car into a 80% Track 20% Street car, and my question is this, since i dont have ac, or any of the components for it i was wondering if i can omit the heater core, and heater assembly in the car and just put the dash back in the car, someone said that i will lose my defrost option, but how many of you actually use the defrost in your track cars?

Yeah you can take all that stuff off, but like you mentioned, taking the heater core & blower assembly out will eliminate any heat, cool air, or the defrost ability. For a track only car, I would do it, for a car that will see street duty, I say leave it in ther just in case. Really its not gonna hurt your e.t.'s that much.

I don't know where you live but in PA to have an inspection you have to have the defroster operational.

this is a road race car not a drag car, so the windows must remain open at all times, only time it sees street duty is on the way to the track, and its not about weight saving its about how much of a pain in the ass it is to put it all back in

i would simplify it(remove the unnecessary AC stuff, remove all controls except the power level for the blower motor and leave the defrost on at all times), thats pretty much what i did..
