This is the only one I have. Let me know what you think. I think it was a 12.8@108 pass. (1.9xx sixty). My car's the louder one, so let me know if you think I'm shifting alright.

http://s3.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=386045326F604B97BE7E0D45D63CDC9B

Also, anybody have a rough idea what it would cost to do the whole rear end up? (4.10s, 31 spline axles, new diff, ect.)

Thanks

Jake

Videos look good. Did someone just slap a racetrack in the middle of a farm or something? It's lookin' kinda bare around there.

For the rear, you figure 250 for the gears and install junk. Axles are 300 (?), and the posi, is another 300 (?). I'm really bad with prices. You're looking at ~$800-$850 for all the crap plus another 200 (or more) to put it in. About a thou - in and out the door. What kinda stuff are you looking at?

That's Iowa for ya. Seriously, that track is in the middle of a farm field. Absolutly nothing around. We usually camp there if it's a three day race event.

I was thinking Moser axles, but I really haven't done any research yet. Any suggestions. I was also looking at some Southside lift bars. My buddy recommended them to me. Says they are great for traction, just not so great on the street. He cut 1.54 sixty with them a few weekends ago. We'll see..

I went with the BB&T kit for ~$550, 31 spline Mosers, wheel studs and an Eaton posi or Auburn Pro. I got the whole thing in a few days. The local Mustang speed shop charged me ~$300 for 4 hours of work, their rates are a little high, but I feel better about supporting them.

My Eaton Posi is really something, today driving to work in the rain the outside tire was skidding around the corner because the posi wouldn't unlock.

Not so good is an understatement. They're horrible. The ride quality on the street with solid bushings in the rear would probably be better than with lift bars.

Moser is what I want too. With the exception of Strange, I don't think you can go wrong with any big-company axle.

I did 3.42s and an Eaton Posi my old S-10 truck and it was 1,000 for parts and labor. Add axles i would guess a little over 1K, the place Pro Gear is expensive but they do great work, i have never heard anyone say a bad thing about them. By the way, do u know the elevation of that track?

My brother just paid around $800 for Eaton posi, eaton ring and pinon, installation kit and a T & A (I think thats the name) rear girdle. Probably looking at a little more than a G if you add in the axels.

Yeah, I think I may need to get a ride in his car before I decide. He says they creek and crack a good deal. And that city driving sucks with bumps and corners. I really would like to pull some sixties like him though!

Your leave looks soft - when you hit second your front end jumps up but doesn't much on your leave. Definately gonna be real helpful to get some better traction so you can leave harder. Some quality control arms like the Saleens, setting the pinion angle and the stronger rear end will allow you to not worry about grenading the rear end with your torque and gear. The Mustang rear upper control arm body mount point is about 1"-1.5" too high - the instant center is nonexistant. Drop the upper arm body mount point 1.5" and the IC comes in where it needs to be. Probably drop .2 or more on your 60'.

Yeah Tom that's what I'm looking at right now. I think my first plans when I take the car out in the spring is to beef up the rear and put in the 4.10s. The proabably a clutch, then slicks. Still debating on what controls arms I want, but I'm looking into some front coil overs. All this depends on my cash flow when I come home from school of cource...

Looks good Jake, the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts sound perfect. As you already know, get that car hooked harder out of the hole and watch the times fall. I recommend running a ford 31 spline T-lok over an eaton as many guys have been blowing the eatons apart. Luckily I'm not one of them but its happened too much for me to recommend it to you. Also STAY AWAY FROM STRANGE AXLES. I bent mine the first time out with them, my dad's bent as did my buddy Mike's and none of us ran slicks or anything. I run the superiors and they have been GREAT so far and I have yet to read a bad thing about them. I paid $300 for my eaton, ~$250 for my superior axles, and $300 for the install. Add in gears and you are at ~$1000. If you are going to do this, GET SOMEONE TO WELD YOUR AXLES TUBES BEFORE getting the differential installed. I didn't but so wish I did.

Yep, stock T-5 and stock clutch. Don't know the elevation of the track. Paul, do you still have that site that has them all listed? I think I lost it.

Killer, I'm so glad you mentioned that about the Strange axles because I was seriously thinking about getting a complete Strange setup. I guess I'll start looking around elsewhere.

that was a really soft launch. It almost looked like you took a nap compared to the bullit you were racing.

I got Moser axles and haven't had any complaints. I would say about thousand bucks for the whole deal.

I couldnt see the video but it sounded pretty good. As far as he rear end, I have never heard that much bad about strange. I always thought they had good products!

Track elevation is 750ft. Yeah, the launch was real soft. Just kinda rolled into it. The car has a TON of low end! It's really hard to get a good launch without unloading the tires. That and I have very little practice drag racing. I'm hoping some ET Drags will take some guess work out of it for me.

What does welding the Axle tubes do for you?

Why do you say that? We ran strange axles on a 800+ hp sand dragster (running 33" paddles) and never had a hint of problems. We used to use them all the time in offroad racing as well. What have been your experiences?
