Hello it has been a while since my last post. I am so very frustrated. I have installed a ZEX nitrous kit on my stang. Before the install, I was running around a 13.5-14.5 on the track. After the ZEX nitrous kit install, my times have consistently been worse, with the exception of a few quicker 13.2's and My best time was a 13.17 @108.2 on the track (1/4 mile).
So today I went to the track for a raceday. And I was VERY dissapointed. The daytime high was 78 degrees and sunny, so the track was either REALLY slick or something. I literally lost traction 5 times today to the point where the car went sideways and I had to let off the gas to right it back up. Horrible times compared to normal. I would shift into 2nd or 3rd and the car would start to shift sidewayson the shifts. Is there too much going to the rear wheels when you are sliding around like that ?
Would anyone agree that there is too much HP going to the tires? Would better or wider tires keep my stang from sliding around? I have 18's with 10 inch tires on the rear. I am happy with the nitrous...it hads noticeably more horsies on the highway or roads when I want to get on it. But on the track it sucks. Too much HP to the tires.

I am thinking about just going to a supercharger and putting slicks on it. This is a serious thought, BTW.

get drag radials or slicks. street tires wont hold up to the power, even if they are wide. try that option first. even if you did get the supercharger, you will need them for best times.

What was your mph on your NA runs? Are you heating up the tires? Are you spraying out of the hole? What tires are you running? How big of a shot? No I dont think you have "too much HP" not at a 108 trap. The 13.5 to 14.5 times makes me think that more driving time may help out a bit. JMO.

I turn the spray on after I leave the hole. Sequence---4000rpm hold----clutch out----gas to the floor---reach up and turn the spray on---get ready to shift to 2nd. Is that the wrong way?
I am going to admit I am an inexperienced track driver, so with a 5speed manual I havent figured out how to heat the tires without moving out. Nitrous question---It is a 100 shot, so should be a considerable difference in speed and time. But I only increased my time by a very little bit (4-6 mph) compared to when I ran without the shot. I guess I really need to practice, but I will say that on the track it seems I get a lot less traction than on some empty street somewhere.
Also the nitrous is a little expensive to practice out somewhere ha ha, so I dont use it on the streets. I do have a completely stock suspension. I need to really figure out how to heat the tires I guess and not push it.
Oh and I am running NEXEN N3000 265/35/ZR18 in the rear. Who knows what I need to do? I mean the car literally wanted to spin out several times, kind of scary. I held it though and kept on runnin'!!!

Thanks for any help you all can suggest!!!!

Drag radials or slicks would help the most but you may want to consider a "window switch" for the juice. It's basically a switch that only allows the nitrous to flow between certain RPM's. You may even try not switching on the juice untill after you've grabbed 2nd gear.

Oh it does, or at least I think it does. It will not engage until I press it past 3000 RPM or also until I put it to the floor. The kit has a "learn" mode where it learns the throttle and will not engage a shot until it goes to the floor. Maybe I need to wait until I shift to 2nd and reach 3500RPM's? Very good advice that I will try sometime jlisle01.

The throttle posistion switch is different from a window switch, I don't think the Zex kit comes with one. But try flipping the switch after the shift. My 5.0 was the same way, way too much TQ. And remember, if you do go to drag radials, be easy on it. Clutches and tranies, and gears, oh my!
