Can any of you guys that are running traction bars post a pic of them on the car and maybe also a part# with then also? I have been looking at the stumpy one's and they are nice quality just a little pricey. I also like the one's on VEGAS-STANG, not a big fan of chrome but they are nice also. My one concern is that i am running 245-60-14 on 14x7 rims and i dont want any rubbing of the tires and the traction bar. Any help would be great Thanks in advance

there is a pic of the ssm bars on my king in the wheel / tire thread. about half way down in the first page.

i don't see how they would interfere with the wheel tire package you are running since the mount directly under the leaf spring.

Mine are universal from Pep Boys, $39.99 + tax I am running P235/60R 14's on 8 inch wheels with no spacers. no rubbing on corners althought I have a little over an 1 1/2" of clearence I can see where I can grind a bit off and round out the outside lower corner of the back plates of the traction bar and get another 1/2" so no worries of rubbing.

Yeah those there are Lakewoods, probably re-boxed for Pep Boys. I had a set on my '78 T-Top. They worked good too, just not as nice as the SSM/Stumpy's lift bars. Actually the SSM bars caused the car to ride stiffer than the Lakewoods did.

I got some old school SSM bars, some people like them, some think they're junk. I can't argue with 1.47 60 ft times on a street driven II. With the quick time tires, and a somewhat clean road, I can get it to hook like it does at the track. The suspension just flat out works, and I don't have much done to it. Gotta love the look on peoples faces when you pull the front wheels off the ground right in front of their eyes. I'll take some pictures of them in a bit when I get over to the shop and post them later tonight.

I can attest to the mechanics of the SSM bars. I run mainly street tires and the car seems to bite decently. These bars actually cause the ass-end to raise-up when you lay into the throttle, effectively 'planting the tires' . Never had regular slapper bars do that.
I've got old VHS video footage of the car on some exibition (sp?) passes against a '79 Malibu on an abandoned stretch of roadway. Can actually see the car lifting up in the back when i take off. It's VHS-C amateur footage. Some tard was running the camera that obviously couldn't run a camera. I was also having a bad day with the fan belt and starter too. I've got this footage on the computer now, just need to find a free-be hosting place for it.

Thanks for the pic parthos. I have ordered the stumpy's traction bars so i hope they hook up like the SSM ones. Also going to finally put in a high torgue starter and not have to worry about starting her up when its hot.I will have to learn how to post some pics here, i think you guys will like the way it looks.

BTW thumbs up on the pic showing the new axles also. you have answered my long time question on the 5 lug conversion. now i can go and get those axles and put my all time favorite style of rims on,crager ss wheel

SSM has been out of business for years, but Stumpy's makes a functional copy of their old MII traction bars:
