Traction needed

I just finished installing off road H pipes on the car. I brought the car out to run it full open throttle to see what they sounded like. They sound good. I think it sounds like a big block.

I always had the back of the car go slightly to one side or the other in 1500 to 2000 RPM range in second gear at full throttle. Now between 3500 and 4000 RPM in second gear again the tires are braking free again and the RPM's shoot right up to the rev limit.

I need rear tires and have been undecided on what to get. I been think about getting Nitto NT555 285/40/17 on my 17 X 9 rims. My present tires are 245/45/17 worn and hard.

Question - Do you think my problem stated above is all from the lack of traction and what do you think about this tire choice?

Yes, I am pretty sure that is just the tires breaking loose...but it could be your traction lock.

That sounds like a good tire.I would get the 555R's though. I am planning on getting either 315/40/17 555R nittos or just putting Mickey Thompson E.T. streets on my old waffle style rims. I got this idea from Killercanary in the other thread floating around titled "what D.R.'s to get" or sometihng to that effect. You should check into it cause there is more info in there. And they have some opinions on 555R's you might find helpful.
