The reason the traction would be the same is beacuse the compound is the same. The weight is the same, The car is the same, the tire pressure is the same the psi on the contact patch is different for the 8 and 10. Sheeeez.

You answered the question earlier. You stated that the 10" tire has 50lbs of weight per sq inch, and the 5" tire has 100lbs of weight per square inch. That wider tire is more efficient because it can spread out the weight of the car more evenly, resulting in better traction.

Seeing as you're "done talking to a wall", I'm going to assume that you are done with this conversation, that we have proven that there is a legitimate reason for using wider tires, and I may now close this thread before it cascades out of control.
