i just got my car back from getting an aod to t-5 swap. i have a 1989 w/ mass air (CA car) and the donor t-5 was from a 1990 GT......i believe the speedo cluster is different, but my mechanic also said my speedometer will be off....whats the easiest way to fix this? thanks.... by the way my car still ahs the dumb 85mph speedo....not the 140mph, thanks!

The 90+ T-5's have an 8 tooth speedo drive gear instead of a 7. You need a white gear for those 3.73's you'll be putting in.....but it still won't be perfectly accurate. The 8 tooth transmissions can only be perfectly accurate up to 3.55's.
Check to see if there is a speedometer shop in your area. If there is, ask about the Stewart-Warner speedometer gearbox. I believe it is either a 777 Series Drive Joint Kits and Parts or 666 Series Drive Joint Kits and Parts. It is a small gear box that fits between the speedo pickup gear on the transmission and the speedometer. It has quick change gears that allow you to choose almost any tire size and rear end gear ratio you want. This will allow you to get the accuracy with within 1%-3%. The drawback is that it isn't cheap.
