My 97 GT with auto just blew the trans at 68000 miles :bang: Since i need a new one , I'm thinkin about getting a 5-speed. I have no clue on the best one for a daily driver with minor bolt-ons. TR3650,T-45,T-5,T-56? Also will the 5-speed clear my Mac pro-chamber with stock headers?

Dont know about what trans to get, I think if you want to make the switch from auto to manual you are gonna be spending a lot more money, which may or may not be worth it. But I read this thread and got a little scared cause I have a 98 gt auto and I drive it HARD, everyday. Did you have any symptoms before it died, or was it sudden, I need to know what to look out for.

Ok- Can someone please help me. I'm going to drop alot of coin here and I want to do it right. Thanks.

if you do it yourself it can be done for a couple grand to convert to manual. If not it's gonna be much more of course. do a search on this board you'll find some good info. I was going to convert mine but thinking against it now.

I too would just stick with another auto, just build it up a little or buy a built one. Look at different trans and trans parts that PA sells. TCCoA.com has some write ups on rebuilding and upgrades for a bullet proof tranny. Sorry to hear about your tranny blowing up too, good luck!!

It would be easier to just stick with an auto. My trans is slipping some now and I too wanted to go to a 5 speed, but I'm staying with the auto. My new built tranny and PI 3200 stall go in this weekend.

I remember seeing that some people were having problems with O/D not working after they swapped to 5 speed. You might want to look into this if you do the swap and want to retain all the functions you have now. Good luck
