Tranny noise, but works fine???????????????

I have a 94 gt with a tremec 3550 and a steeda shifter, before and after installing the shifter i started expierencing a sort of continous sound mainly in 5th gear traveling down the highway or at high speeds. It is hard to describe the sound it's not like gear wine, I have had a rear end go out and I have had steeda shifters before, it's not gear noise, it's a sort of continous grinding sound that resonates through the shifter handle, like low pitched tv static??? i worry that a bearing is bad or something has become loose on the shaft or a fork is the linkage is messed up. Anyone have similat expierance?? like i said it works fine but the noise is annoying as hell. I dont have time to pull it apart or i would.

When's the last time you changed or checked the fluid in the tranny? And are you using Syncromesh for fluid?
