I am wondering if anyone has had the same problem I'm experiencing. I just bought my brand new 2006 Mustang GT on Monday this last week. The car only has a total of 420 miles on it, but already the car has popped out of 1st gear on four seperate occasions, including once while my wife was driving it. The first time this happened, was when I was actually driving the car off the lot! I chalked it up to the fact that I was excited and maybe didn't have the car fully in gear. Since then, I have made it a point to make sure the shifter is fully engaged, but it has still popped out of 1st gear on three additional occasions.
I'm also noticing a problem with shifting into 3rd gear at times. It seems to resist going into gear and once this resulted in a horrible grinding sound (with the clutch fully engaged).
I'm not really sure what's going on here, but the car is going back to the dealer tomorrow for service. I've been pretty much babying the car so far and haven't been racing it or doing anything outside of normal driving to and from work. I've also driven manual transmission cars my whole life, so it's not that I don't understand how to shift or anything like that (unless there's a secret button or something I don't know about)
Have any of you had similar problems? Is the stock transmission problematic on these cars, or did I just get a lemon? This is my first Mustang, so I'm not sure what to expect out of it, but I would imagine that if any transmission would be built to take abuse, it would be a Mustang transmission!
