alright, this is my 3rd transmission and i just installed it b/c in my old one , i had a spring release into the casing and ruin 2nd gear and chip up 3rd, ive learned quite a bit about t-5's through all of my headaches, but this problem is stumping me. I did a really good install on my rebuilt world class t-5, i installed a zoom clutch and new u joints and the "new" transmission and bolted up the exhuast and everything, i was ready for paint and after doing all of the mods and being prepped for paint i figured i would drive it donwn to street to check out the view of the new 4" cowl hood , i had moved the car around in the garage and never thought this problem would occur, but my car wont shift into 2nd or 4th gear, i have adjusted the clutch cable properly. i use a pro50 shifter, and have threaded in the bottom stop bolt, but the shifter wont even reach the bolt. It will not engage into 2nd or 4th gear, but every other gear works, but reverse and 1st do make a little not so good noise, i have even removed the shifter and shifted it manual by hand(with my finger in the shaft hole. so its not the shifter. so im stumped, the guy who rebuilt the tranny for me really knows his s**t, he's been doing this for years, he even installled the tranny in his car for 2 weeks( supposedly) and it ran fine, just to see if it would have any problems, so im completely clueless, what could it be, b/c 1st and 2nd are together as far as shift forks go and 3rd and 4th shift forks work together. oh and when i "put it in those gears" 2nd and 4th, i can feel its not going completely in and when i ease out on the clutch the gear grinds and the car wont move so im forced to pull it out before it breaks anything. occasionally i can get it in 2nd enought to stop the grinding and it will move the car...... please help me!!!!!!
