The problem started a few weeks ago. It seemed like when i would come to a stop at a light, and i would sit for a minute or two, it would take about 5 seconds before it would let me in first gear. It would only happen maybe about 1-2 times a day. It feels like first gear lock, like when you try to put it in first going above 5 mph. Now that i have played around with it for a little bit when it happens, i tryed putting it in second gear just to go, but the same thing happened with second. When it lets me into first gear, it is very very notchy, not smooth like it should. I tried to find a way around it, and what i found is that if i put it into first when i am going about 1-2 mph, not from a dead stop, it goes in alot easier. Today, it seemed like it would not let me in gear maybe once out of every three dead stops. I have a steeda tri-ax, and i don't know if that would be causing it. Any ideas? I don't really want to take it to ford because i have a blower and i know they would give me **** for it. Also, i know that the 3650 is prone to having problems.

I take it you have it in nuetral with the clutch out??
Then you push the clutch in and try to go into gear and it won't?? That's because the internals of the trans are still spinning from the clutch being out and haven't slowed down.
Next time you notice it happening, try pushing the clutch in, waiting about 10 seconds and seeing if it goes into gear easy.
If it doesn;t, then your clutch isn't fully disengaging when you push it in and it's keeping the trans internals rotating.
You can try the self-adjuster. Pull up on the clutch pedal hard and then push it to the floor and see if you hear a click.
If that doesn't help, try a firewall adjuster if it is the clutch no releasing all the way.
Try going into 4th gear and then 1st to stop the internals from rotating at a stop.

it takes about 5 seconds from when i put the clutch in and try putting it in gear.
i just got my clutch replaced about 2 months ago and i just started having the problem a few days ago, progressively getting worse.
I have tried this as well, and it does work. I found that if I do put it into third or fourth, then back to first, it goes in.

Get a firewall adjuster, they are cheap and easy to put in and lets you adjust where the clutch grabs.Dont buy a cheep one, get a Steeda ($40?) or a UPR.
