I've got a '80 mustang, I rebuilt a 302 out of an 86 crown vic & put it in there now. I have an aod in it now, but it knocks really bad in the forward gears.

My question is what kind of transmission should I put behind it (c4 or aod)? what flexplate? what bellhousing?


(using it mostly for street driving)

c4 is almost bulletproof for an automatic trans, but tends to be a little more on the pricey side when things go wrong. AOD's are good if you intend to do highway traveling because of the OD ratio. I would go AOD if you are doing a lot of driving.

most of my driving is in the city, where i wouldn't need overdrive.

c4 is stronger if you do a lot of playing...but like i said, they can be more expensive when trouble comes

just bought 4 banger today and i want to go with c4,do you guys know how hard is the swap?thanks
