Hey guys,
I've had my coupe for around six months and love it but, I feel like I'm losing so much power because of the AOD it has a tourque converter but still.
i miss rowing the through the gears.

Do any of you know where I can get a good swap kit?

I'm looking for a T5

another question what is the difference between a 2.95 T5 and a regular T5?

Thank again guys

You can find a T5 rebuilt fairly in expensive find a doner car for the other parts at a Junk Yard Or look on ebay for the parts needed. Here is a good article http://www.wcfords.com/articles/tech/t5swap/t5swap.html

Thanks man that's some good info, I'll probably end up doing that, that website is great too!

I'll be back here asking for help once I start the swap :)

Thanks Again

Me and my dad went out today to some junkyards and found a donor vehicle, and got everything needed including the clutch and tranny for 500 bucks   The car even had a moroso cold air kit that we got.

Thanks for all your help guys and wish me luck on the install!!

That's an awesome deal. Make sure you resurface the flywheel (and make sure there's enough metal there). I'm having to redo part of my swap cuz I didn't. :(

Take your time on the pedals. They're the worst part. The WCF article says you can pull the shifter through the console, but I didn't see that being possible. I was sure mine was going to crack, so I pulled the console. Safer that way. Make sure you got the pigtail off of the T5 for the backup lights. That pigtail is hard to find on some models (91-93). They changed the design for those years and they're hard to come by. Also note that you can push the brake cylinder back into the firewall. That'll buy you some more clearance when pulling the old pedal assembly. The leather shift boot is a good junk yard pick up too. They seem to get pretty good money off of e-bay for them.

Feel free to email/post questions. I'd be happy to lend advice. You'll be glad to be shifting again!! I felt like I picked up 20hp! :nice:

Tahnks guys for all your responses,

I'm glad to say that the job is done, we started on saturday morning and finished sunday, but there were a few bugs here and there, that we couldn't get till yesterday.

The pedals were a PITA my dad a 5'10 guy was having problems getting in there, I don't think I was going to fit under the dash. As i weigh 220 and 6' 1".

The car feels like a new car, I fel like I got tons of power back.

Feels good to be shifting again.

I got some pics, and if I can find a host I will post a video of the car with open headers. :nice:

Thanks again guys

Mario

I sold my AOD (it had a blown OD position) with bellhousing/converter, etc. for $80. You should be able to get significantly more for yours if it's all working.

I'm 6'1" 225, so I ain't buying your dash excuse!! You might have got that by your dad, but I pushed and pulled under there!!!

Glad to hear you got it done! It's a tough job, but well worth it. I spent my week putting in a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. Man, that thing is awesome! My wife is going to want more driver time now though due to the reduced pedal effort. :(

I feel like I picked up some more torque at the low end with that clutch, man it sticks hard!!

I did the swap on my 93GT. Trust me, get a better shifter. I've already swapped out two t-5 trannies. I've finally ordered a TKO. The stock shifter on the T-5 has rubber stoppers and you can overshift and bend the shift fork, thats what happened to my 2nd tranny.

I did mine a month ago. I put in a 3550 with a Spec clutch. I couldn't believe how alive my car felt. I already put in a Pro 5.0 shifter. Those pedals kicked my butt for awhile. Just ended up throwing some pent up rage on it. Haha.
Good on the swap bro.
