I am not a fan of GM... they do not seem to engineer thier cars/trucks well...

Look at a trailblazer... you mean under that big tuck they cannot hide the muffler?

The camaro has the engine half under the windshiled... They are not designed to be worked on at all... plus in the day they have done a lot of cheapenting (squeaks/rattles, cheap materials, etc)... Personally I am part of the other 2 camps (of the big 3).... when it comes time for a new truck I donlt know if it will be a superduty or a ram, but I have a few years before that happens...

Well said my freind...that being said, let me use a pic of my 03 Mach to coax u in the right direction...

Im biased because I own a Mach, but i would recomend 1 over the other cars you mentioned...

I have driven several cars including a 2000 SS 6 spd, & an 01 Cobra convertible, & both felt decently fast, but not that impessive to me. On the other hand, the Mach feels like it has the broadest powerband out of all the N/A cars I have driven, & it pulls like mad up top...

I would have bought a mach 1 instead of my cobra if I could have found one resonably. I fell in love with a low mileage azure blue 04 but could not get them to come down below 23,000 dollars. I love your car! I still find myself wanting one but I have other priorities that have to come first. One day I will have one though

I don't think I would buy a 99-01 cobra vert. The factory IRS in those cars is really prone to wheel hop and the low end torque is softer than the mach 1's although they have a little more top end power. A cobra probably weighs 100 more pounds than a GT due to the IRS already but a cobra vert will nearly weigh two tons and with the softer low end of the 99-01 cobras it would be a slug at lower rpm's without atleast 4.10's.

thanks.... My freinds 01 Cobra vert definately felt like a slug down low, but I can say that the ride quality of the IRS is excellent....

Mach's are cool, but like i said, if i stayed with a mustang it'd be a vert for a change of scenery. I've had a 96 V6, 97 V6, and my 95 5.0. All of which where hard top. So im sort of tired of the 94-98 look, which leads me to 99+ but the interior is the same, which is the part u see most being the driver, so if it was a vert it would be a different experience. That and price tag's of Machs havent come down much....atleast not into the range im looking at. Im TRYING to keep it below $15k......

And since they dont offer the mach in a vert.....thats not an option. Which puts me back at the cobra.

Has anyone been in a F-body that has had subframes welded in? And to be honest, i wasnt that impressed with the build quality of my 95-97 stangs....i mean all it is is a crap load of plastic lol.

Trust me, after having an LT1'd Z", the plastics on the m are trash compared to our cars. The mustang is much better quality. Heck I rented a new full size caddie last year and the dash plastic was no better! Blew my mind! Still no where near my 94, lol.

Do you plan on modding alot??? If not the T/A would be a better choice...If you gonna spend big bicks and buy a new block the cobra is a better choise...

im not so sure thats good logic....once u get into the league of spending THAT much money, either car will work IMO. I'd say up to about 450rwhp the TA is probably easiest from what i've read...after that its a "pick your poison" type of thing....

I hear ya about the mach 1's prices they just haven't come down all that much compared to other cars. Given your two choices I would probable go with the trans am but honestly you really need ot drive the car alot especially on a rough road and see if there are any major squeaks and rattles cause if there aren't many you might could install good subframes and and a strut tower brace and keep some of them from ever appearing. It might also keep some of the t top leaks from happening as well. The WS6 cars are the best looking of the bunch thats for sure but they have their problems.

I am not overly impressed with the build quality of the 94-98 mustangs either but trust me after owning a F body you'll appreciate it!

A few of my buddies have f-bodies, and I agree with the other guys on the issue of interior build quality. The interiors look sloppy and just feel cheap compared to an SN. You could practically ice skate on the dash board it's so huge. That being said, the LS1 is a kick ass engine, head and shoulders above a DOHC 4.6. the 6 speed is also a nice advantage. I really like the way the newer ones (98+) are styled, especially the firehawks. If it was my money, i'd take a low mileage T/A m6 over any stang but a Terminator.
