I have a 98 gt and im trying to find out what trans it has stock . also how much fluid does it hold ? Im wanting to upgrade to full synthetic fluid as ive heard it makes a world of diffrence . I installed a upr shifter and have some trans noise ,but was told with after market shifter it is posible ?any help would be great

Aftermarket shifters will be a bit more noisy because there is no insulating material on the new shifter. The 98 has the T50 D Tremec. It holds 5.6 pints of fluid but a good gauge if you change it is to fill until it runs out of the fill hole. The bottom of the fill hole is the limit. Just make sure the car is level while adding the fluid.

I might be wrong, but I thoguht it had the T45 tranny. The shifter you installed should've told you what tranny you have. ex T3650 shifter wont fit in t5/t45.
Some people say redline oil is the way to go, synthetic. I installed it, it didn't seem any better. I've tried normal valvoline ATF in my other car, that was ok. but then I changed to maxlife, with lucas oil stabilizer in my other car, that made it MUCH better. Other car was a ford probe, not a mustang though. If I didnt put 40 bucks worth of redline in my tranny I would just dump it and put in some maxlife and stabilizer.

yep

you are correct it says t5/t45 just didnt know which it was . I have been hearing alot about redline just no one around here carries it .I was also told syncromesh works well .Thanks for all the help im gonna try to locate some redline
