Transmission crossmember modification

In my never-ending quest for more exhaust clearance, I have noticed that the stock tranny crossmember is a severely limiting factor. Has anyone ever modified theirs to gain more exhaust clearance? I would just try my hand at it, but my fabrication skills are non-existent.

Yes - what is there simple to say? Short of purchasing a tubular crossmember, bust out the welder, stock, and 4" angle cutter. I've found my most restrictive point for mine was actually the p/s area of the floorpan.
