TRANSMISSION!!! NO!!!!!

i LOVE scotch, johnny walker black label.i drove to work, only happened once.talked to my boss, who is a big chevy guy.were both thinking low fluid.hard to tell by the dip stick, only says cold and hot not sure where the full mark should be.added another 1/2 quart,on the way home did not happen once.but it is very cool this morning, mabye the temprature has somthing to do with my problem,i'll find out when it warms up outside.i'll keep my fingures crossed it was just low fluid.pray for me!

if it was low fluid it should slip all the time, not just when warm. i had my auto rebuilt twice in the first year of owning the car. after the second time it started slipping and jumping gears on me i gave up and did the aod-e to t5 swap. 4 years later and still no transmission related troubles. sorry i wasnt of much assistance, but the only thing that worked for me was removing the problem and not replacing it.

green 94 5.0, how much did your conversion cost?when i bought my car i did not know how to drive a stick.i've learned since then and driven 5 different stangs with sticks, they were much more fun to drive and faster too.anyways....drove my girl to school and had no problems, think it just needed fluid.i know i'm an idiot, but i want to thank everyone who gave my problem some thought and did there best to help.i am truely grateful:D

problem is back.cant tell if its just low on fluid, not sure on how to read dipstick.green 94 5.0's suggestion is sounding better and better.i know a guy with the engine and tranny from an 84.5.0 4 barrel code m v-8,t5 5 speed tranny. all i'd like is the tranny, will it fit?will it work?what else will i need?please help...car make me angry .....feel like having it stolen and collecting the insurance.

Jack Daniels Black Label...:nice:
It sounds like a clutch pack that's burnt. Probably need to replace the seals as well as the clutches and if you do, gowith the Red Alto clutch pack. If the surfaces have glazed over, then it'll slip just like a clutch in a stickshift. Have that checked out. Since it's an AODE, it'll probably be a little more expensive than the AOD but not by much.

does anybody think the fluid filter could have fell off?i just rembered that the day this occured, leaving my sisters place i was driving down an unpaved road with many potholes, hit one and it scraped the bottom of the car pretty hard.looked under car,no holes or dents in pan.looks like it scraped on the cats.

the fox t5 will work but because of the input shaft length you will need to use the fox bellhousing and clutch fork as well. a driveshaft spacer will also be required. aside from that stuff you will need the tranny harness, 5spd eec (not necessary but highly recommended for driveability reasons), the pedal assembly, clutch cable, clutch assembly, flywheel, dust shield, shifter, shifter bezel, and pilot bearing. off the top of my head, that list seems complete. i will double check it tomorrow when im 100% awake.

I don't have money to burn, so I would take it to a REPUTABLE tranny shop for an "estimate". Or take it back where it came from and ask them what they recommend. You don't have to get it fixed there, and I wouldn't if they tell you their rebuild is shot and it needs to be done again.

Personally I would consider:

Drop a corner of the pan, drain the fluid, put a new filter in it. New gasket on the pan, and seal that baby up. Lookin' at around 50 bucks if you get the cheap fluid. It's been a year and a half, changing the filter isn't a bad idea even if that's not the problem.

I was thinking that the filter might have fallen off in mine too, but have not checked.

Do you have any other symptoms?

After my car is driven some then you let off the gas peddel it will downshift kind of harsh, and it act weird. (like trying to downshift of something)

update. drove around for a couple hours this morning, getting pretty warm here in fresno.a lot of stop and go traffic, did not have the problem once.last night added another half quart of fluid to tranny.in all that is two quarts i'v added since my tranny started acting up.temp should top 100 today i'll see how it does in the heat.

Dang man were you two quarts low when you started or are you now two quarts over filled? Do you see it leaking - transmission fluid doesn't evaporate. Having an overfull transmission is no good.

I would bring that thing to the shop that rebuilt it and see what they have to say before things get worse!

it's been a day and a half and the tranny's been ****ing normal, guess it was just low.drove it pretty hard this morning to see how it did, felt good but will drive easy for a while just to be safe.thanks , everyone for your help :) and sorry for kind of wasting your time.i think i will change the tranny fluid and filter this weekend.i hope this is the last time i have to post anything on this thread:D
