Whats up guys? My stock transmission scratches when i try to shift to 2nd fast and when i am accelerating hard. Ford replaced second gear, synchro, and other things one year ago under warranty...which doesnt mean much. I havent raced it or abused it...no power shifting. I did get the clutch replaced after later on in the winter and im wondering if the clutch could need adjusting. I know Paul (killeycanary) had his trans grinding when going to third gear and he adjusted his clutch and it went away. Im wondering if this is it or will there be more problems.

Im asking because i got a g-force tranny...but im wondering if i should just save my money and put it towards other things for this h/c/i upgrade. I am leaning towards that because i really hope the clutch is just out of adjustment. I do have a adjustable quadrant and fire wall adjuster but i dont know how to PROPERLY adjust the clutch and when u know you have it right.

The car is parked for the winter but i think the only way to make a good decision is to bring it back out and get the clutch adjusted. Let me know your thoughts...

Nate - When you say scratch, what do you mean? Grinding...? Buzzing or humming...? A quick little pop...?

Besides bad synchronizer, one of the most common and main reasons a gear will grind is a bad fork for that particular gear. If you've got all winter, it is an easy fix...

Its more of a grind...i was thinking it was a bad synchro...but its fairly new but it could be damaged. I was just hoping it was a simple fix. Can i do a clutch fork myself? The problem with that is me dropping the trans at home...

Yep. If you don't have any help or anyone that could give you some tips, many people have suggested Hanlon's rebuild video. Supposedly they are very helpful.

T5's are Ford's easiest transmission to drop. Try dropping a T-45 or 3650 - both have the bellhousings built into them and are MUCH heavier than stock. Get a set of super-tall jackstands and give yourself an afternoon. It's easy...:)

Probably not until school is back in. How far are you from Hofstra? I have a few friends up there that I go up and party with occasionally...
