Im looking to find out the size of the shaft in my transmission and how many gear are on the teeth. Its a stock 5 speed transmission out of a 94 5.0.
Considering putting an automatic in. What do you guys think about that idea. Still undecided need some opinions.

I would only do a auto if it was a performance auto. I have a 5-speed and aod mustang and i used to like the 5-speed but know i like the auto. I got a killer aod with a manual valve body and 2600 stall from a place called www.sr7performance.com. really good service and product. Tell them jason sent you if you give them a call.

I would keep the 5 speed.
lighter weight, cheaper to rebuild, easier to find strong parts
check out DDperformance.com they have some good stuff there, and will answer all your questions. Also, if you find the tremic site, they have exploded views of the trans and everything so you can redo it all yourself. I have one apart right now, just trying to save a couple hundred bucks to order parts.

its all about personal preference. if you like slamming gears then stick with the manual but if you want reliability and faster more consistant et times espicially the more you mod it go with a good auto.
