So I finally got rid of my old notch and got a 94 GT auto. I've done plenty of research via these forums and from random places on the web and found out that aode is the best ford auto transmission for street/strip use. My question is the car feels sluggish (compared to my t5) and the shifts seem like "sloppy" it shifts very slowly. Now I found out that this is characteristic of the AODE and that a shift kit or valve body would fix this. My goal for this car is to do a H/C/I and possibly a power adder. I am looking to reach a goal of about 400-450 at the crank. What can I do to my aode to make it handle this amt of power. I would also like to use the auto/manual or full manual feature that a lot of valvebodies give, I'm leaning towards the full manual and i'm going to be using the B&M Hammer shifter. Whatever suggestions you guys can make are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

shift kits are GOOD
you'll definatly need a set of gears, and a stall converter, then it WILL NOT feel sluggish
4.10's are recommended for auto's.

yes get the speedo gear at the same time. Also some auto owners have come across shifting problems after adding 4.10. Seeing as how the shifts are computer controlled, gears throw off the puter and you may need a chip to correct this.

A few guy here run JMS chips (don't have a link sorry) they have had great results with them. I don't have an auto so I don't know of any good tranny parts.

Just go with 3.73s - especially if you are looking at a power adder down the road. No worry about if you need a chip or not. Plus when people are talking about the speedo gear. You can't get it perfect without a SpeedCal. Most of us have the closest one (I think it's purple, but can't remember off hand) Mine is off 7mph at 70. So it will add miles to your car if you are worried about it.

Check my signature for a Group Purchase that ends next week. You can get a good price on a nice converter and a shift kit at once.
