Transmission Question

I just recently got a Free 2000 Mustang V6 engine from a guy who was gonna throw it away, Im gonna rebuild it but what i need to know is if my 1986 Mustang's Automatic Transmission will be OK with the engine or if im going to have to get a new tranny for it
