My transmission is all stock. When i'm in neutral and slowing down to come to a stop the transmission starts rattling. It starts around 15-20 mph and continues down until i'm stopped. This only happens in neutral and when I have it in gear it doesnt seem to rattle. I especially notice it when turning or when i'm next to a car and can hear it echoing off of them. I'm about to get a new clutch (my TOB is out and I need a new clutch anyway) and need to know if i'm going to need to replace anything else while the trannys out so i can remedy this problem as well. Anyone have any ideas before I take it in to get looked at?

Hello I'm new to stangnet I recently started experiencing the same rattling when rolling in neutral.Does anyone know what the problem is?

hard to say exactly what it could be without seeing or hearing anything. in the past my car would make a clicking noise while coming to a stop or driving slow. it ended up being the u-joints. another time i had a rattle from the tranny and it ended up being the dust cover that goes over the cluth cable/fork was vibrating. i put some permatex around the edge of the cover and that took care of that.

Thanks for the response. TOB,s are you speaking of pressure plate fingers?Because it makes the noise whether you push the clutch or not.you also can feel it in the shifter. Thanks again.
