i have an 01 with a t5. a little time ago the transmission locked in reverse, and now its making a whine everytime i depress the clutch. it doesn't whine while in gear or while in neutral...just when the clutch is depressed. theres also a slight ticking i can hear through the passanger side window when it bounces off sidewalls, but i dont hear it through the drivers side (maybe that can help locate it). i feel like its the throw out bearing, but any other ideas? and whats the $$ damage going to be on this rebuild? thanks.

Throw-out bearing is going bad on the clutch. If it locked in reverse it is probably pretty bad shape. You may want to have it repaired soon. Might as well upgrade the clutch while you are at it.

What so you use the car for and we can make suggestions as to what you should do?

I use the car as a daily driver / weekend warrior. When it locked in reverse i went to pull the tranny and it popped out of reverse while i was dropping it. Other than the sound and the one time it locked in gear its drives fine...no funny feeling in the clutch or anything. the sound doesn't even affect how it drives. i upgraded the clutch about 10k miles ago, Spec Stage 2.
