Hi to All

I purchased a Tremec 3550 new about 3 years ago and from new on occasion when i would drive hard it would lock out 3rd & 4th gear.
I would park the car and the next day it would shift perfect.
now it's rough from 1st to 2nd and almost impossible from 2nd to 3rd or 4th
gear. if i try to force it to 3rd from 2nd it will just pop over to 5th.
when in neutral the shifter is not louse, what can this be need help.

I've put in a new steeda clutch quadrant and cable and new Centerforce dual friction clutch.
the problem started about 800 miles after installing the clutch.

Pleas if anybody has any suggestions they are very welcomed.

thanks Raymond (pr_wingman)

Try adjusting the clutch. Most clutches require some adjustment after break in. I like to have the clutch completely disengaged and still have about 1.5” travel left before the pedal hits the floor. If I shift only when the pedal hits the floor, there are several milliseconds that the clutch disk is not being driven by the engine or transmission. In theory, this lets the disk slow down some and makes less work for the synchronizers – keep in mind that this is a theory, but it seems reasonable. This means that I have only about 1” of free play at the top before the pedal starts to disengage the clutch. Keep in mind that these figures are all approximate. When properly adjusted, there will not be any slack in the clutch cable. You will have 5-15 lbs preload on the clutch cable.

I tried adjusting the clutch and nothing the synchronizers are fine it does not grind into gear . the problem is getting the shifter to move freely, for some reason it's jammed i removed the shifter completely just to check if something is jamming the shifter and it's clean.
i don't have any more ideas other then drooping the Trany an opening it up.

Note: it shifts with some resistants from 1st to 2nd but in the neutral position it will not go to the neutral position between 2nd and 3rd. If i force it just pops over to the neutral position between 5th and R

ANYBODY HAVE A CLUE I DON'T

My 3550 does this as well, even after 2+ years and routine clutch adjustments. It only does it when i'm REALLY pounding on it, like speed shifting at the track.

Thats how it started only when i power shift this would happen from when i purchased the trany new but it always corrected itself after sitting for a wail.
but this time it occurred during normal driving and doesn't want to recuperate.

At least i know i'm not the only one that this has happened too

I talked to Jeff yesterday at Tremec tech support and he has never seen that problem before so I sent him a small video clip he’s going look in to the problem and try to find a solution.

I’ll keep updates on what I find.

Yes the fluid has bin changed. Any other suggestions
