The 1st gear on the Tremec 500 is 327,
On the Tremec 600 is a 287.

Will there be a slowing in 1/4 mi times using the Tremec 600 with the 287 gear?

With a heavy car and no NO2 or forced induction, the 3.27 first would be a good choice with stock rear gears .

If your first gear is already traction limited and you are running slicks & good suspension mods, the 2.87 is the way to go for less wheelspin.

If you have slicks and very good to excellent 60 foot times the 3.27 gears will give you a slightly quicker launch.

i have been wondering the same thing, i have a 95 GTS that is rather lightweight...im planning about 375rwhp out of a 331 wiht all the goodies.

the car has 3:55 gears and i cant really launch hard on street tires already.......id rather just put deeper gears in it later than have a useless 1st gear.

This is my future plan:

331/347 stroker and s-trim or procharger w/AFR 185. I guess would that be around 450 - 475 RWHP?

will my car be slower in the 1/4 now? see sig. for mods.

Thanks

I'm going with the TKO-600. For me a longer gear is much better.

For supercharged applications I would recommend the 500.
