I have Tri Ys on the car now, I also have a set of Hedmans(3in collector and bigger primaries) that came off my old Falcon. I was wondering if swapping them out would be worth all the trouble and scraped knuckles for the power i would get. I think the power increase would be minimal as in not worth it. The engin is a 302 .(030) Edelbrock performer RPM power package w/ D0OE 351W heads that have had some mild porting, and TRW pop ups (10.4cc dome). I had rn the headers on that engine before but it was so long ago. (the engine was from my Falcon, I had swapped them as my Dad's (Zeek) 289 was tired. He wasn't physically capable of the swap.

So the Hedmann's are long tube I'm guessing?
If the Tri-Y's are stepped I think you'll get more power out of them for a street car. From all of the exh. threads I've been reading on different forums you can't beat stepped Tri-Y's for performance matching to a stock-mild built car used on the street between 2K-6k rpm, if you're going to climb to 7K/8K then the long tubes come into play.

I reckon the trouble I'll go through putting the Hedmans on isn't worth the power gain. I'm mainly on the street, and I don't drive it that often, only weekends. I am going to get a new exhaust, maybe 2.5 inch or 2.25 (as the collectors for the Tri-Ys are 2.5 inch.) I think maybe 2.5 would be closer to "open" exhaust as my compression is between 10.5:1-11:1. Thanks for the info!
