I have an 03 GT and am wondering if anyone knows the trick to getting the stock exhaust off without cutting it. I know that taking the rear out would obviously accomplish this but, would rather not.

Do what I did:

1:use sawzaw to cut off cats.

2.:weld test pipes into place of cats.(if your keeping the original Hpipe)

3: use extra pipes and cats to create a machine of destruction in backyard.(you might need to get some extra parts, but check local parking lots at night and feel free to use parts from your neigbors cars.)

4:make sure to cover it at night so neighbors can't see it.

5:enjoy!!!

That's gonna take a lot of parts

There's no way to do it. The cat-back is installed from the factory before the axle is in place. You'd have to drop the axle to get it out in 1 peice.

What i did was mark the cat back with lines with a permanent marker and cut through the lines in an easy to access straight area. That way whoever bought it off me could hang the mufflers and then take the tailipipes to a muffler shop, line up the lines and weld the tailpipes back up

If i remenbered right(its been almost 4 years since i took off the oem pipes), i think all i did was to remove bottom shock bolts, and let it hang. it gave me enough to wiggle the bastard out without cutting it.

I did that, because I had buyer for stock pipe. Otherwise, its not worth the time. Get the sawzall

Sure the easy way is to cut it off, but if you want them in one piece than jack your car as high as possible, the higher you can get, the easier it will be. Take off your back wheels to give more wiggle room for you and the pipes. Unbolt the shocks and let the rear end hang down, be careful to still support it, but let it hang as low as possible. Remove exhaust. I did it with your standard Sears jack stands, the small ones. It took some wiggling, but they do come out.
