Alright so I went to NED for the Tasca Shootout. I borrowed my friends 275/40/17 Nittos to see what the car would do with slightly better traction. I will say this, Nittos take some practice. I would need another few races to get them right. On to my passes...

First Run: 18 psi in the tires. 3-4 second 1st gear burnout to get them warm. Staged and held the car at 3500. Rolled off the clutch and into the throttle, and as soon as the clutch was out the tires went up. Spun hard, pedaled it and then they spun as hard on the 2nd gear powershift. Car has a tendency to "burp" on the shift when powershifting 3rd and 4th every once in a while, and this pass it did it on BOTH shifts. Crossed the traps and it was weak but understandable.
60' ... 2.20
1/4 ... 13.30
mph ... 107.4

Second Run: 18 psi in the tires and a 3-4 second burnout. Staged and 2500 on this hit. Rolled out on the throttle off the clutch and the car stuck better but it wasnt great. Spun hard on the 2nd gear shift, didnt notice any real bad burps on the shifts and the car pulled alright. Crossed the line and was satisfied with beating my street tire best ever so slightly.
60' ... 1.95
1/4 ... 12.93
mph ... 107.6

Third Run: 16 psi in the tires and another 3-4 second burnout. Staged and launched similar. 60' shows it was a similar pass, just slightly better. Spun 2nd hard and the car went down the track fine. Crossed the line and was happy with the numbers but something was off.
60' ... 1.93
1/4 ... 12.87
mph ... 111.5

You read that right, 111.52 mph trap. Now the day the car trapped 109 it was pulling hard and I felt it. This pass didnt feel special, just slightly better than the ones before. The 1/8th mph was only a mph better than the passes where it hit 107, which leads me to believe it was an issue with the tracks equipment.

The car made 258/295 and with a cloth seat (sold my leather ones), no pass seat and no back seat it was at 3130 for weight. Factor that weight and that power and 111.5 is insane and not really possible. Even my 109 seemed high, but it did it 3 times that day, whereas this day it only snagged that number once.

Any input guys? I like hearing opinions about it. Might have some videos up also! :D Sam.

DAMN! Is all the input I have! haha. That is sickk. My Cobra turns 114-116 but with over 400RWHP!! With 258RWHP, 111 is FAST!

Your car is a freak man, it runs really good and looks really good while it's doing it! I have to say CONGRATS!!!

Thanks, but I wouldnt look into the 111.5 as anything more than a fluke. Even if the car actually ran that, my guess is it will never do it again. Picking up 26 mph on the top end with E7s and a stock cam... not sure if thats even possible.

Thanks for the compliment, but you should have seen the car, on 17" non DD Bullitts. Looked funny having 18s out front and small 17s out back (man 275 nittos are TINY).

Nice, and yeah I lost to him when my clutch pushed me through the beams... I was praying the lights dropped right as the car started to go, but no such luck. Either way he was a nice guy and yeah his car runs hard for whats done to it. Loud too!

Thanks for the compliments, car runs pretty good for the little bit of money I have in it.

Jesus man you run some insane times. That car is defininatly damn fast!

That 111.5mph you think is a fluke? you were going 109 last time, this time u had DR's. Although for the power u make, thats a sick speed!

i was there, saw that run......... your car looks better in person, if thats possible

You were there, should have come over and said hello...

Thanks for the compliment, it was actually nasty at that race, hadent been cleaned in a while, needs a good buff, and the interior is all messy from me selling the seats, and not caring, lol.

Thanks, not sure how the runs looked, but they were fun from inside the car :D.

I can't see why your car won't run an 11.9 or 11.8 on full slicks and drag wheels if it'll run 111mph on drag radials. If your best time is Slicks:12.56 @ 105.83 w/ 1.69 60' but you can run 111mph on DR's, why is it that with a 1.6 60' you only run 3 tenths better? Maybe i'm missing something?

NICE RUNS...nice mph too...:nice:..But why only 3-4 seconds on the burnout? I used to go until the car would bog down...then stage when i did the burnout the car would spin like mad then after maybe 10-15 seconds you would hear the motor lug...thats how i knew they were ready to go...LOL...This was in my Iroc i think i said this in another post....1.7's everytime spraying off the line ..if i didnt heat them that way it would spin bad...It took me a few times to figure what worked for my car...maybe try spining them longer next time just to see what happens...Thats the tire im going to get for my next GT im buying......

Thats my point... Now the 12.56 @ 105.8 was a few years back (like 4 or 5) so maybe the motor loosened up, as the car since then has only been trapping higher and higher. It went from 105-106 to 107. Then the last race it was trapping 108-109. This weekend it went 107, 107 and then the fluke 111. This is why Im sure the 111 was a screw up on the tracks part. The 107 sounds right as I went 109 with 35 psi in the street tires, and mid 107s with 16-18 psi in the DRs (more rolling resistance).

On a slick with some 1.6s the car would probably now go 12.4s or so. I wouldnt expect anything better, and also wouldnt even expect 1.6s as this suspension has NO weight transfer.

Sorry for the two posts, this wasnt up when I made my last one...

The reason was these are borrowed DRs and I really dont want to kill them on the guy. The burnouts were shorter other than my last one which was a second gear 5-6 second one. The car seemed to launch better but I didnt get a timeslip on that pass as the clutch rolled me through.

If they were my tires I would be practicing with them, but they arent, and I have a set of 17" ET Streets Im going to be running, just need some DD Bullitts. :D

I could see 1.8s being attainable next time with these, and even 1.7s if I practiced some, but I dont see me using them again. Next race is my last, and I plan to just run the ET Streets and probably snap another axle :rlaugh:

I still don't understand how a car can get higher MPH because it spins off the line...i just can't get that through my head. It just seems to me that a car that dead hooks and goes has more distance to build speed than a car that spends 20 feet spinning the tires. It makes my head hurt.

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/tasca-ford-day-ned-1008_189719.htm

The first run on this video you can hear the car spin really hard into 2nd gear. The run later in the video the clutch pulled me through the lights and I just said forget it and put my foot down and held it there.

The Blue 86 GT that goes 12.4 is my brother, and the Maroon hatch that gets sideways and then loses with a 10.1 is my dad.

Thanks Riceslayer for the video!
