Tried some Nittos, new best mph

There's a guy on our local forum who just went 11.92 @ 112mph with an unopened Explorer engine with a cam and a lot of suspension. He said he's got $600 into the engine..lol.

We had 2 cars go 11s with GT40s and stock cams at this event, and the blue 86 was my brothers GT40 stock cammer. Granny shifting it (his stock T5 has been nothing but headaches) he went 12.27 @ 111 this past race (he ran 12.4 on the run in the video).

Nick, the black smoke is oil from what Ive seen. For some reason the car has been back firing when he puts it on the 2 step. The starter was taking his sweet time which explains the backfiring then nothing, then the backfire and launch.

I've got more than $600 into the engine, but not much. $250 for intake and TB (brand new intake :D) $600 or so for the valves and valve job, $150 for rockers, $100 for MAF, $60 for pulleys, $150 for CAI (go figure, one of the most expensive engine mods) and thats about all... All together maybe $2500 in performance mods into the car, a good bit more into other stuff (wheels, paint, interior, etc).

Nitto's ARE tricky. It took me a good 10-15 runs too figure them out. When heated rite "They Hook"! :nice: But they are limited, if you would. For 13 second and slower cars there GREAT! High 12's, mmmm, yeah. But the deeper you go into the 12's the worse they get. You fall into the border line bro. Borrow some M/T's from someone!:D

Yeah I figure as much. My guess with some practice, 15-16 psi, a good burnout and good prep they would hook, but I dont ever plan that much effort.

I have some 26x10.5x17 MT ET Streets (NOT the radials the slicks with some grooves) going on Bullitts (17x8 for 17x10.5s when I find them) for the track!

:D the plan is to blow the rear next race in Nov.

you can borrow my et streets for Nov if you dont have your dd bullits in time.

Hey Bill...

Yeah, I have the tires so I will probably just toss them on the free Bullitts I have, and over the winter snag the DD ones. They have been sitting so I really need to get them mounted and use them.

I might however come and test fit yours to see if the DD will work.

Oh ok no prob, I had my et streets on 17x8 bullits and they were just a little to squirly for me. Once I put them on the 10.5 rims it seemed to stabilize them right out.

On a side note are you going up to LV on the 18th with rick?

Burn too long and there as good as a street tire.
For me, holding it in 1st gear and spinning till they "just start" to smoke THEN STOP!
Try that the next time. Seem to work for me every time!

Thats how I did it the first and 2nd time with 18 psi and they spun hard. You can hear in the video them spinning into 2nd gear.

Bill I am thinking about it, but I'm almost sure Im busy that whole weekend.

Oh ok, yeah I am thinking about it too, let me know what you decide. I want to get one more trip up to LV in before I put her away, since I cant go in Nov:(.

what track was that at?

also i was thinking about trying to get some people to go to epping next weekend, shoot me a PM if your interested, id like to see your car in person
