Trunk Lid swap

Anyone done the trunk lid swap to remove the wing? I finally found a guy with a wingless V6 that will switch with me, but it looks like there might be a special tool or something to remove the lock mechanism...

Anyone got any idea??

I've been searching for a matching wingless lid for months, so I'd hate to pass this by!

Appreciate the help!

the key lock is rivited in on my 98 . i just left it and figured i still have the button in the glove box and the keyless way

Yeah, I recently removed my spoiler, and had the holes filled. The lock is riveted, but you can drill it out, and replace the rivet, or use a bolt...

I have an '04 BTW...

I talked to the dealer this morning and he said that the rivet is just to hold the bracket in, so can be drilled and either left out or replaced with a screw.

I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes.
