My trunk lid on my 71 Mach1 with spoiler will nit stay open.
I looked and it is on the 3rd notch already.
The only time I would like it to stay open is at the Charity car shows.
Is there a way to keep open without replacing the torsion bars?
From what I have seen it is not an easy task.

Has struts could likely be added as boosters. The engineering to get the right ones and them mounted would be a pain and might bend/warp the trunk. But I can picture it working. I have seen too much lift bendingfiberglass hoods and deck lids. Is your lid steel?

Makes me wonder if there were different rods for lids with spoiler and without, or if possible to heat treat/twist existing back to reasonable performance.

Did yours come with a spoiler from factory?

I think so but don’t really know. It is heavy. I have taken it off and dyed it.
I was hoping there might be a trick someone new of without replacing the rods.
Guess not so I will have to decide prop it up or replace the rods. Rods not to expensive if I can find a pair.

Some of these gas prop struts are rated for 200lb doors and are only 20” long.

I figured out a simple solution to my trunk lid not staying open. Just took a piece of wire and a pliers.
I have attached a picture. I will make it look better and maybe make one for the other side.
