tsb climate control ?

You know it’s funny you say this; I complained to my dealer on Friday about a fan noise.
It’s really weird. If I have the fan on high heat (4) and the selector on floor vent along with recirculation air (middle button) and then get the Engine up to 3500 RPM then turn the fan speed down one notch (3) I can hear a clicking noise. It’s pretty loud. It may be there even if I don’t turn the fan speed down but I can’t hear it.
I can get it to do it almost every time.

It sounds to me like there is vacuum problem but to be honest I don’t even know if they still use vacuum to operate the doors. Anybody have an idea?

I haven’t had a chance to check the technical manual yet.

Just so you all know I'm not drinking nor was I drinking when I heard it :D

I just heard the same thing too.. but for me the rpm and vent section doesnt matter.. I hear the noise right when I take it off the "O" (off), thats when I hear the little clicking.. I turn it off again and it stops.. .. =-/

Is the clicking Proportional to the fan speed? Mine seems to be related. it gets faster and louder.

I'm not too sure.. I just hear it last night when starting up my car.. its faint.. but I can hear it. I turned it back off before I drove off.. I will try it again today when I head out.. but it has to do something with the fan Dont the "O" setting shut it off? I'm lost.. haha

yup.. sorry for the late reply.. when I kicked up the fan so did the noise.. when I have it on high you cant hear it since its going too fast.. looks like another issue =-/

Yeah now we just need a fix.. :)
I started to look at the service manual and see that everything is electric. So I dont know that the Engine RPM would be related, I'm going to spend some time under the desk this weekend and try to figure out where the noise is coming from and at what times.

Hey FordRacing, the climate control doors are all electric now, I thought they would have been vacuum too.

Yes you are correct. I just wonder what happen if I start unplugging them one at a time if I can figure out which one is causing it. this one is going to take some work to figure out. I'll post more about this this weekend when I can find some time to look under the dash.

Is anyone else getting this noise???

04-5-3 MAR 04 A/C - Instrument Panel Vents Rattle?

I noticed this rattling for a long time (I guess we are talking about the same problem). Today I decided to get active and check the forum if somebody got that problem too. There is the "04-5-3 MAR 04 A/C - Instrument Panel Vents Rattle" TSB. Is that the TSB treating our problem? Has anybody done this TSB?

My old man says don't worry about it.

I noticed this clicking noise about a week ago when I pulled in the garage with my windows down. If I put the vent on upper or upper lower, I can then turn the A/C on and off. Everytime I do that I hear the loud click. The old man says it's just a switch turning the compressor on and off, and that all cars work like that.

When it thinks it is cold enough, it turns it off. WHen it gets hot, it turns it on. The problem then when I come to a stop with the windows down is that it goes on, produces cold air and sucks it in. Then it thinks it is cold and goes off. But having it be so loud and continue on and off, on and off, basically nonstop in 20 second intervals seems wierd to me.

Does this sound like the same problem some of you are having or are you talking about something completely different?

I know what you are hearing. It's pretty a deep and loud sound of a switch clicking and a valve operating and you hear it only at stops. I don't now exactly what it is, because I thought the compressor would be on all the time, but it sounds more likely like you described.

But we are talking here of another noise; it's kind of a plastic rattling noise :bang:

That TSB only applies to '04 and older cars. It refers to the center dash vents above the climate controls rattling. '05 and newer obviously have different dash vents.

no..no.. I can have vent only on(no ac) settings on 1 or 2 and you can hear the thing clicking.. so easy to here if they listen. why wont they listen ='-( how can I make out with a chick with that clicking noise...
