now that the car is finally running i want to get it tuned for more driveability (stalls when i push the clutch in and let the revs drop, also running pretty rich)

ive got one quote for 700 for a custom burned dyno chip with 2hrs on the dyno

i know i can get a tweecer R/T for around 500 and tune it myself but i downloaded the tweecer software and found it pretty confusing, ive also been lurking over on the tweecer forums. i like all the flexibility you get with the tweecer but that learning curve would annoy me. i hear you can download other peoples tunes that have similar combos and just tweak them a little to make things easier

anyone have an opinion on what i should do?

also what other options do i have as far as self tuning devices and their prices

i know theres the PMS but those are big$$

I can keep this short ... I know I can ...

From a point of "money" ...... You have already seen the light

From a point of "if you want to do it". You yourself used the word annoy

Using a Tweecer to self tune is a blessing to some because it offers lots of options.

All of those options are a curse to some.

You need to see which of the above camps of folk your from

As for using someone's tune that is similar what you think you need............

Maybe yes
Maybe no

If you used their tune as a guideline then I would be willing to say YES, it could helpful for you. If you just threw their file in your pcm then ....... I would tell you that it COULD be harmful to you.

im more of a DIY save money kinda guy... im good with computers and technology and stuff but right now im kinda leaning to the dyno tune, i dont really have any more future plans for the car besides gears (i know those should have been the 1st mod)

i would feel more comfterable if i left it to someone who knew what they were doing

After getting the tweecer, I would never spend that for a custom burned chip. I'm a hardcore DIY'er in general so for me it was WELL worth the money. Just figure it out, people can help you get you get rolling with a basic tune once you get it, just post in the tweecer forums with your situation and your combo.

Besides, what happens when you change something and need to re-tune

That's what I was thinking. I don't know anything about the TwECCer or PMS setups yet, but I know I will go that route when I need to. The quote you got for the chip and dyno time seems a bit much, too. Tru Dyno Sports is local to me. They quoted me $550 for chip & 2 runs. Not bad, but I don't want to keep going back, if I need to. They can also help with TwEECer tuning, so I'm doing that.

$$ wise, you might want to go TwECCer.... especially since you are another DIY-er.

Anderson Ford PMS all the way. It is very user friendly, may be a little more than a tweecer, but it's not as complicated to tune with.

You can find deals on them. I bought mine for $475 brand new off a guy on the Corral. I don't need a laptop inside the car and it's a bit easier then the Tweecer. Down fall of the PMS is injector calibration and fan speed control. Haven't had a chance to use it yet but www.stangtuning.com has plenty of threads.

I too plan no future upgrades, so Im going with a chip. My shop charges 600 and thats unlimited hours of tuning. He wont stop untill hes happy with it, and the same goes for me, If im still not happy, he wont stop. I would suggest trying to find another shop to do the chip as 700 seems steep with a fixed 2 hours
