New to the forum. Been wanting to start a build thread for a while but haven't.

This will be the build of my 88 mustang gt.

Stock 5.0 (except arp head bolts, stiffer valve springs, and explorer gt40 intake) from 91 mustang
Stock t5
8.8 with 3.27 ford racing gears
76mm turbo (turbo kit fabricated by me)
dual 3" exhaust (fabricated by me)
Tubular rear control arms
subframe connectors
8 point cage
That's pretty much the high lights of what I've done so far.

Unfortunately I lost a years worth of pictures of my progress on the car. It was a pretty rough stock car when i got it. It had pretty bad frame and shock tower rust, but I decided to save it. It was going to be a stock driver but once I had it apart to fix the rust it kinda grew into more of a race car. I'm 19 and this is my first mustang so any input or advice is appreciated.

Here's how the engine bay looks now. I'll add more pictures later

I want a fun daily I can drive an hour to work or school. I'm going to have it tuned to about 350rwhp at first so maybe the t5 will last a while

Great progress so far. Congrats on it. And good luck on the T5 staying together lol. If you truly take it easy on the trans it will last for awhile. Looks like you did a good job on the engine bay. Post more pics as you go and keep us updated and welcome to Stangnet!

Doesn't sound too bad...however the 76mm seems to over kill for 350rwhp. I would be concerned with spool time.

I used the 76mm because I had it already. I would have went with a smaller one otherwise. I made the hotside out of 2.25" to try to help it spool a little better. If I can find a tko transmission I would go for 450rwhp.

The fuel system now is a 255lph fuel pump, stock lines, stock fuel pressure regulator, and 39# cobra fuel injectors.

I used a 70mm maf from a 93 cobra. And it was tuned with a moates quarterhorse.

A little rust reapair at the door hinges. Driver's side is done. Still have to do the passenger side. Working on bodywork now trying to get it ready for paint. Thinking about painting it reef blue.

I'll get more pictures of the car tomorrow after I clean up my work area some lol

Been doing some bodywork. I'm slow and not the best at it, but I can't pay anyone to do it when I know I can.

Ditto. Congrats on grabbing it by the balls and making what you want out of it. Got my respect.

The turbo should spool fine. What size turbine and housing? Is it the on3 turbo?

Thanks guys!

It is on3 turbo. .96 ar

It seems to spool fine. Maybe a little slow but it doesn't have the final tune on it and timing is locked at 14 degrees

Traction is an issue when it gets into full boost on street tires. But I've got a set of 315 drag radials ready for it.

I'm also going to mess with the rear control arm angles and pinion angle once I get it painted and start driving it.

Killer man keep up the good work. Some pointers if you don't mind - Get rid of the stock radiator. Get yourself a mishimoto or something like that . Also it looks like it has an under drive water pump pulley on it. Id put a stock on back on the cooling system will thank you . If you don't have electric fans and are looking into some - Dorman Ford V6 contour replacement fans for 108 bucks. Make a mount which i can tell you're capable of. Decent controller with a heavy duty relay and you're set. I run them on my with no issue and it makes a decent amount of power. Welcome to the site !

Yeah the underdrives were on it when I got it. I hate underdrive pulleys the cause charging, cooling, powersteering, ect problems for 2hp. Not worth it.
ive been waiting for a set of contours fans to pop up cheap. For now I put a fan from an old Pontiac grand prix on it ( got it for free), but it still runs hot. funds are getting cut short right now since I went back to college.
