this guy that is putting the cage in my car took me for a ride in a aluminum headed 306 with a turbo off a tractor or something. it looked like hell but sounded like a spoon full of devils and ran like a raped ape. if i had to guess.... high 11's? maybe mid 11's. anyone ever heard of such a thing?? i aint going to do the forced incuction thing but for the money if it works some of the boost guys might find an easy way out or in, if you know what i mean.

There was an article about a ride like that in a stang mag about a month ago (a subscribed month ago; I received it in the mail last month or so). I think the guy used a Deere turbo or something along those lines.

It's in the latest issue of Mucle Mustangs and Fast Fords, the guy took a 5.4 triton motor and a turbo off of a John Deere tractor, the HP wasn't too impressive but, I guess it was pretty neat.

Here's some pics of a semi-local car. It's 2 John Deere tractor turbos. Stock longblock, t5 with a ranger shifter haha. Runs 10.90s. We took the pics from the burnout competition, the others are offline. He enters the burnout competition at the Summer Nationals car show in Mass every year. I believe the show goes on for 4 days or so, with 3 burnout competitions every day, and he's in every one. Gets it up in 4th and holds it on the rev limiter till they go boom, then continues to hold it there till they shred and break something. He blew out a quarter window last time out. He never cleans the rubber off either. I love this freakin car. It looks like a hack job, but it screws.

Uhhh.....turbos are turbos

Sure there's a ton of variations of sizes and impeller sizes, spool times and boost and blah blah but a turbo from a tractor isn't much different than a turbo you'd use on a car.

I have a friend that installed a turbo from a cat tractortrailer engine on his 83 coupe, he just flipped his shorty headers around built the neccessary duct work, and placed some type of bonnet on the carb, He said he had about $500 in everything, I swear hes got a 18lb radiator cap rigged on the intake side as a blow off valve, OH YEAH this little contraption will flat haul ass. scares me, It went 6.80 on a 225 shot of NOS but now it feels alot stronger since the Change. he expects 6.60s now. I expect the stock short block to take a dirt nap.
