Turbo or Supercharger

Well, the condensed version is that turbos make more power, but they are (substantially) more expensive. The stock GT internals (rods, crank etc...) can't handle very much HP, so unless he is planning on upgrading said internals, a turbo is really not the best option.

way to vague. is this in an area that does NOT have smog inspections? if its in CA then a turbo is out of the question. if he has a load of cash then go turbo. to make the turbo worth while you need to really use the power it can achieve... this will be in the 450+ range. it will also need a forged block to handle the power, transmision, rear end, etc. the turbo costs, the essentials that will break cost.

supercharger will be cheaper and easier all in all. anywhere from 300-400 hp with ease. thhe costs of this will range in the 3.5-5k intead of 5-7k for the turbo.

if this is going to be a track car, and he has the cash... Turbo is the end all be all in my opinion.... HOWEVER, if this is going to be a daily (i think it is, considering he has a 04) then i'd suggest a blower.

supercharger hands down :hail2: .......just my opionion then forge the internals and change the pullie to me the supercharger is the better choice

another thing to consider is there is no definitive or "official" turbo kit available for mustangs

vortech, paxton, procharger, kb, etc. for example all make kits specifically for 4.6 mustangs

hp turbo (i think) makes a kit now but compared to a s/c kit, it seems thrown together and is alot more expensive

Pro Turbo Kits and Hellion both make a good single turbo kit for the mustang and both seem to have really good and reliable systems. They both cost around 6 grand tho so they are substantially more than a supercharger which can be had at modularpowerhouse.com for less than 4 grand installed and tuned. I'd say bang for the buck is def. supercharger but outright power and upgradibility is turbo. Also check out turbomustangs.com
