Ok hp performance offers a hot turbo set up. no intercooler. How much boost would you be able to get away with with a non inter cooler single turbo set up. I have 8.2 to 1 compression in my 351w and was thinking bout a single turbo set up. Or would it be better to go for the gusto and get the entire kit. I doubt i want to run a huge boost. just enough to give me as much power as i have already with the nitrous engaged. maybe a little more.

I would suggest going for the "gusto" and getting the intercooler. Allows you to run more boost down the road, and allows your engine to run cooler, and you KNOW you wanna be cool!

Lol,Dan with the nitrous plate it wont need the intercooler, and a good carb will actualy cool the charge.

Of course even cooler air is still more power, its just the gain you'll see wont be that much more with it.

The benifits of cooler intake charge will be worth the extra cost. Reduced chance of detonation, higher boost levels and higher possible (future) out put are well worth the money. Not sure if HP is sizing the turbo diffrently for intercooled and not intercooled, but you have the possibility of seeing turbo lag if an intercooler is added as an afterthought. If your buying the complete kit, everything is sized from the start. I'm biased, but the parts I have received from HP have been high quality. Only wish I had time to install the kit. Good luck

yes i wondered about contining to run my juice when i was racing. maybe jet it down to 100 ponies. I guess i'll start saving. I was thinking of around 8 pounds boost with a single turbo. is that to little? Other question is with a turbo cam how much less hp am i going to be running before the boost kicks in? is it safe to assume i won't make any real power till after 3000 rpm? if that is the case around town under 3 grand i don't want it to feel like a dog. (arnen't turbo cams running 236 duration where as my N/A cam is 274? seem like i will lose big down low)

Just my opinion, but I think a intercooler is a must. do any street driving at all get the intercooler. Check out www.fullboogie.net

He is a good friend of mine currently building my 67mm single turbo setup with intercooler. He is a Percision turbo dealer and more. including Moser, and D&D performance dealers. You can check out all his prices and current projects.

Nitrous plus boost is an awsome combo. Not only are cramming more oxygen into the motor, but you also get more nitrogen witch can help suppress detonation, and I believe in a turbo app increase the exhaust volume and pressure witch is why it would help spool it up fatser, not to mention the higher heats, witch would increase the velocity.Just remeber to set the fuel side with a boost refranced regulator and a starting pressure equal to your desired plus your boost pressure (i,e desired 6psi with 8lbs of boost, you would need 14 psi of fuel pressure),the high pressure nitrous wont be affected.

Turbo cam,I actualy doubt you would loose any power.A smaller cam at lower rpm's out of boost, will help with torque production so it might actualy be faster n/a down low.Of course, you do sacrifice so top-end power going with a smaller cam then you could use.

Oh,and about exhaust coatings, the header wraps actualy work quite well on turbo applications, they will help keep the velocity up in the primaries and down tube if you wrap it too.

Yep...I used his headers for my DIY project. He has excellent quality and customer service. If you go over to www.turbomustangs.com and do a search you'll find most people are quite satisified with his products.
