I have a 1989 GT with an AOD. I was told the car had the tranny rebuilt recently but that it needed to be adjusted (I plan on replacing it with a TCI tranny in the spring, but I would like to fix it to get me by). It shifts through all the gears by about 25mph when you aren't getting into it. I was told that it may be my TV cable and I was wondering how to inspect or adjust it? Will it hurt driving the car normaly while its shifting like this? Thanks.

An improperly adjusted TV cable is one of the best ways to burn up your tranny :D
I could write a long thing on how to adjust it, but do yo have a manual? If not, you need one. You'll use it till the pages disintegrate. Search on the forum for TV cable adjustment, you'll find a million posts with specific how-to. it's oretty easy. cable on the underside of the TB, pop a thing out, hold a rod, pop it back in.
I'm sorry bro- been a long day and I have to go to sleep.- But search! it's in there!

lincolnsonline.com has a great wreite-up about how to adjust the cables as well.. and a good article about replacing the bushing with the metal style instead of the plastic one.
