Like many folks, I have problems with the TV cable from the AOD to the throttle linkage. I have followed all the instructions and videos that have been posted and tried various settings - never once finding one position that seemed to be right.

I think the situation on my car falls outside the various stock settings because I believe that either the bracket that the TV cable is mounted through on the engine is positioned wrong ( possible it was badly bent out of position ) or the bracket at the transmission is not positioned as per factory spec.

So I am trying to at least assure myself that the position of the bracket in relation to the top dead center of cotter pin of the throttle plate is correct.

I am attaching a picture that shows the bracket that I am referring to and the top dead center location of the cotter pin.

I would really appreciate it if some 5.0 owners with AOD's could take a minute, raise their hood and provide me with their measurement of the space shown in the picture. I can't recall ever seeing anyone noting a mispositioned bracket as being the culprit to their tv setting difficulties. So we may be breaking new ice here... and at the least, we will get it on record what the distance should be

Thanks in advance

I went thru the same thing. Almost thought I had a rebuild coming my way. When I took it to the shop the tech adjusted by way of rooad testing. He'd adjust, drive it, pull over and adjust again. Did that several times with me in the pass seat. Works great now. I will check when I get home tonight and relay my measurement. I too watched all the videos and followed the instructions but I guess its better if you make those adjustments everyday. Practice makes perfect I guess.

So my adjustment for this is 3 3/4 inches or about 90 mm from the inside edge of the bracket to the center of the hole where the pin slids in to the linkage. I hope this helps get you close even tho there are probably many factors that dictate where yours should actually be set at.

My measurement is 3" 7/8 ( just an 1/8th of an inch shy of 4" )... or 1/8th of an inch more distant then yours... Not much of a difference, but with tv cables even an 1/8th of an inch off is enough to throw things slightly off...

It's evidently a huge deal where mine was concerned. I was in the ball park but just the tinyest of adjustment mad a differance. Took the tech 4-5 times to get it right. Now I'm scared to touch it and I need to switch out my fuel pressure regulator. Sucks to be me Ii know. Lol.
