Tweeters in 66 A pillars?

Does anyone offer the proper fittings (right term?) to accomodate this? I know I've seen gauge pod types of things, but I really have no plan to put any of that on the pillars... just the small little speakers to compliment the larger ones I've got in my kick panels. Don't want to make it too obtrusive.

I don't know of anyone who makes anything like what you're taking about but I'm interested as well. Maybe this site will help you with how to make some with a set of stock parts. Check out the article on the custom made kick panels.

I've seen it done by heating up the stock trim piece and then using a large socket to push the plastic out from behind to form a base for the tweeter. If done carefully it works very well.

The tweeters I bought came with their own cups. I put double sided tape on them and stuck them at the base of the piller. Worked great.

I installed power windows and installed the tweeters where the old window cranks were.

My understanding was that your tweeter was supossed to be no more than a few inches away from the speaker for proper sound.

true, but i dont think there are any true audiophiles in here that measure the staging etc. If possible they should be angles toward you at least, not firing straight across the car.

That looks pretty good, and it solves the dilemma of what to put in that spot when I remove the window cranks... maybe there'd be a way to angle those upwards a bit so the sound was more properly directed. Flush mounted at an angle would probably look pretty clean.

You might be able to take a PVC elbow and cut it to angle correctly. I'd cut the ends off and use the curved part, not the straight end.

The tweeters came with a surface mount pod that allowed them to be aimed, but I liked the cleaner look of them recessed. If you're good at minor fabrication, I bet you could find a way to semi-recess the surface mount pod.

Oh, yea, by the way, the power window mod is a great mod, I highly recommend it.

I have actually seen Tim's car in person when I came by to pickup some parts he sold me. The tweeters in the door actually looked very nice and a good fit.

For the best sound you need the speakers ear level. Since a car is a HORRIBLE acoustic chamber, angled panels work fine enough.

These are the ones I ran at the bottom corner of my A-pillers. Sounded great and was PLENTY loud

Ha Ha, you use Boss tweeters.Those are throw away tweeters. I use them everywhere and buy them by the 100 case for dirt cheap.

I dont think anyone driving a mustang can be too concerned about staging etc. The exhaust and wind noise ruins whatever "sound quality" you may have had.

I like the tweeters in the window crank idea

Mine werent Boss but thats the only pic I could find. Right now Im running Orion comp 5-1/4's.

Sorry no pics but they are fairly compact.
