Ok... all 4 belts in my stang were like this when I bought them, so I'm wondering if they're supposed to be like this.

the part that buckles you in seems to be facing the wrong way, until you twist the belt on one end to turn it around. is it supposed to be like this, or was the P/O a moron who got them messed up?

If so, whats the easiest way to fix it?

Yeah, it's faced the wrong way. It's retarded.
Ford just replaced my front 2 belts because they didn't retract anymore but like when I got my car brand new, the belts are facing backwards.

I take mine out of the loop and rest it on the loop. They stay facing forward and are easy to reach still.

If you remove the loop, does it leave a nasty hole or anything? I haven't really taken a look at it but I thought that I might just remove it and then it won't screw up my belts.

But it's so hard to reach the belts then...
I use the loops as hooks and just rest them on it.

Islander03GT:

You can "untwist" them if you want. It takes some patience but you can twist the 'tongue' piece so that it is 180 degrees from where it is now.

First, connect the seat belt into the latch and find out if it really is twisted (no flame intended). If you like the routing, then do nothing. If it is twisted then disconnect the belt from the latch and run it up near the holder. You will need patience for the next part. Fold over the seat belt on one edge and try to pull the tongue piece down over the twist. Once you get it started you have to pull the folded belt to the opposite side of the belt while pulling the tongue piece down. It is an ordeal, to say the least. But, keep at it and eventually, the tongue piece will face the exact opposite from where it started -- no more twist!

Hope this helps.

The twist is inside the b pillar then. Harder to pull out and retracts slower.

I removed the seatbelt holder from the seats...looks a lot cleaner and is out of the way when someone's climbing into the back. BTW, it doesn't leave any holes, except underneath the headrest, which you can't see anyways.

My pass. side front seatbelt is always retarded and has trouble retracting though...i may take it to ford and have them replace it.

Don't you find it a lot harder to reach the belt now?
I'm 6' and it's a pain even though I have the seats pretty far back.

Ya ford replacing them doesnt do much, they replaced mine but the sevice manager said that they just gonna break again unless u let them slowly retract(doing that lasted about a weak)

one of the first things i did to my stang was remove the seat belt loops they were always a pain in the ass and looked like crap. im 6'3 and ride with my seat leaned all the way back and have no problem reaching the seatbelt. plus imo it makes it look a lot better too. it does leave two small holes but like the one guy said u can't see them anyway. oh and my stang is a two seater now because people in the back means i have to ride uncomfortable so screw that-just me and the passenger. i cant wait till i get my rear seat delete so i will actually have a valid excuse to give people lol.

What causes them to stop retracting? The one driver's side in my firebird stopped retracting so I just pulled it and cleaned it up, re-oiled and added a little liquid graphite to slick it up.
